Fridays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Key goals in this class: This 6-week course will introduce students to Basic stitch, Home machine operations, paper patterns, and clothing closure This introductory class with Ashlie teaches the fundamentals of hand sewing, learning industrial machines, and reading paper patterns. By the end of the class, you will have a basic understanding of hand sewing, sewing tools, machine stitching, fabric knowledge, and paper patterns. You will also have the start of your own Sewing Portfolio. Materials needed: One 3-ring binder, Plastic sleeves for the binder Basic sewing kit- Hand needles, dressmaker or silk pins, thread, pin cushion, marking tape, fabric pen, fabric chalk, fabric scissors. Kits can be purchased at Joann’s, Walmart, or any fabric store. If you buy a kit, it will have all these items included) 4 yards of Muslin fabric. (Fabric can be purchased at Joann’s, or any fabric store). 1 SKIRT PATTERN- Please purchase Butterick Pattern (B6799) (You will also purchase Fabric for Final skirt piece) 1 inch elastic black Pen and note paper or notebook for notes HOME MACHINE- Please bring your machine if you have one. If you do not own one we will provide one for you. If you want to purchase one (recommended) The SINGER HEAVY DUTY 4452 OR 4411 Is highly recommended.
